At the midway point of the 2021 season, things were exciting for a few of our Hilltopper football alumni. Let’s relive the action of Week 8 in the NFL:

Kicking off the weekend off was an AFC South matchup between the Titans and Colts. Late in the third quarter, the Colts kept their upset chances alive with a Capt. Jack Doyle touchdown that was right on time:

The Titans rallied back to win the game in overtime, 34–31 as they’ve swept the Colts this season. Doyle finished the game with two receptions and 12 yards, including his third-quarter touchdown. As of Sunday’s game, Doyle now has 22 career touchdowns as a Colt since coming to the team in 2013.

Mike White & George Fant hosted Cincinnati for a game against the Bengals. White received news that he would start his first NFL game on Sunday as Zach Wilson will miss some time due to injury. As his historical afternoon was recaptured in the article below, he helped the Jets to victory as they’ve upset the Bengals, 34–31.

White finished the game with over 400 yards passing, three touchdowns, & two interceptions. His fortunes are remaining positive as head coach Robert Saleh announces that he will be the starter moving forward, including the upcoming Week 9 Thursday Night Football game vs the Colts.

Fant left the game due to an ankle injury during the win. His health is being monitored as he did not practice on Monday.

On the bright side, Fant was the highest-graded offensive player for another week due to Pro Football Focus. He did tally 33 total snap counts before leaving the game.

Joel Iyiegbuniwe played 22 snap counts on defense/special teams during the Bears' 33–22 loss to the 49ers.

Tyler Higbee caught three receptions for 25 yards during the Rams' 38–22 win over the Texans. Here’s to seeing him in action next Sunday night versus the Titans.

Lastly, Deon Yelder did not play during the Buccaneers 36–27 loss to division rivals Saints. They’re still atop of the NFC South standings.

Stay tuned for more updates as the season progresses.
